Lawson Burch RUA
Lawson Burch was a landscape and figure painter born in Belfast. He was educated at Grosvenor High School, then Stranmillis College where he trained to be a teacher. He taught art at Holywood Intermediate School and Castlederg Intermediate School.
In 1965, Burch first exhibited his work, ‘Low Tide, Annalong', at the Royal Ulster Academy. He held his first solo exhibition at Queen’s University, followed by an exhibition at the Arts Council Gallery in 1974.
In 1993, Burch exhibited at the Royal Hibernian Academy for the first time and continued to do so annually until his death in 1999. A studio sale of his work was later held in the Bell Gallery, Belfast in 2000.
